Jackanory Preschool has been established since 1971 and started as a playgroup by a group of local mums for their children. Jackanory has now been a part of Chobham village life for almost 50 years and has grown into the preschool setting it is today.
Jackanory is a registered charity and is still run by a committee of parents who are responsible for ensuring that the qualified staff comply with the pre-schools aims to its full potential.
At Jackanory we strive to provide a warm, welcoming, calm and caring environment where children are able to play and learn at their own pace, making discoveries and choices for themselves along the way. We have two rooms for the children, welcoming them into the Acorn Room from the age of two, and during the term of their third birthday children are able to move up to the larger Oak Room.
We offer the universal 15 hours funding as well as the extended 30 hours funding for three and four year olds, Jackanory also accepts free early education for two year old funding (FEET) and the recently introduced 15 hours funding for two year olds of working parents. We accept a range of childcare vouchers. Working with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum we gradually prepare children for the next BIG adventure - school!
